Derrick Brown is on track to earn his bachelor’s degree in business this December. During his career, he has been a member of the SEC academic honor roll and an Auburn Academic Top Tiger.

Character

Brown is a three-year member of the SEC student-athlete leadership council and is active with many campus service groups. He serves as president this year of Auburn’s all-sport Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. He has been voted team captain and is respected as a campus leader. Becoming a father in December, he has been vocal in speaking out about that blessing and the responsibilities dads have to their families.

Community

Brown is a nominee for the AFCA Good Works Team and Wuerffel Trophy and was one of three finalists in 2018 for the Jason Witten Man of the Year Award. He has been on numerous mission trips with Christian organizations and is very active in community service. He organized students to assist with tornado relief locally and is an active volunteer with youth organizations and causes.

Competition

Brown is a 2019 consensus preseason All-American and first-team All-SEC selection. He is a three-year starter on the defensive line, recording 115 career tackles and 21 TFL in 40 career games played. He has been projected as a first-round NFL Draft pick last season and again this year. He was named the SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week, the Bednarik Award National Player of the Week and the Reeseā€™s Senior Bowl National Defender of the Week for his play vs. Texas A&M (4 tackles, 3 TFL, 2 sacks, a forced fumble, 2 PBU) on September 21st, 2019.
