Classroom

Lastrapes is majoring in Sociology, has a 3.2 GPA and expects to graduate in June 2007. She is a Dean’s List member, received Washington’s top academic female athlete award for the quarter and is a two-time Pac-10 All-Academic honorable mention. She would like to pursue a career as a college softball coach.

Character

She is the team captain and has a positive attitude toward change. She has had three different head coaches in four years and has been instrumental to the team’s acceptance of each change. She played with a bone chip in her elbow as a freshman, eventually undergoing surgery; played with a re-injured elbow and injured shoulder as a sophomore, eventually undergoing surgery on both; suffered a concussion as a junior during a collision at second base and played with bone spurs in her ankle, eventually undergoing surgery.

Community

Dominique has volunteered at Children’s Hospital, visiting and playing with sick children. She has been a WASAC representative where she has served as the softball representative all four years by acting as liaison between the student-athletes, the athletics department and upper campus. She organized various student-athlete community service projects like sending care packages to troops in Iraq. She has volunteered at local community center to put on a haunted house for local children at Halloween and has worked team softball camps to mentor local children.

Competition

Lastrapes is a two-time All-American third team, three-time All-Pacific Region second team, three-time All-Pac-10 selection (two-time honorable mention, second team in 2006) and a three-time NCAA All-Tournament Team (MVP in 2004). She was named the 2007 Husky Offensive MVP and ranks eighth on UW all-time career list in on-base percentage (.426), ninth in doubles (39) and 11th in walks (77) and hits (226).
