Don Jackson is one of five players on the team who already has received a degree and has entered a master’s program. He currently boasts a 3.850 GPA in Educational Leadership MA after receiving his bachelor’s degree in communications studies last spring.

Character

Jackson was voted team captain entering the 2015 season. A member of the team’s leadership committee, he is described frequently as the heart of the offense. Jackson was elected to represent the team during preseason Mountain West media days in Las Vegas and is always eager and energetic, whether in practice, talking to the media, working in the classroom or volunteering in the community. He was elected to speak with the University of Nevada board of regents about the importance of collegiate athletic’s in his life, is heavily involved in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and has been named to the Wuerffel Trophy watch list.

Community

Jackson frequently volunteers and works with the local Boys and Girls Club. He has spoken with local elementary schools about his life story, being a student-athlete and the importance of an education.

Competition

Jackson was named to the 2015 preseason Doak Walker watch list. In two seasons at Nevada, he has rushed 299 times for 1,289 yards and 11 touchdowns. He was named to Athlon Sports’ 2015 Preseason All-Mountain West Third Team after starting in all 13 games last season with 216 carries, 957 yards and seven touchdowns. Ranked 10th in the Mountain West in rushing last season, Jackson posted five 100-yard rushing efforts, including a career-high 132 yards in a victory at UNLV. He recorded a season-high three rushing touchdowns in 2014 against Fresno State and helped Nevada’s offense average over 200 yards on the ground per game and rank fifth in the Mountain West in rushing.
