Dylan Christensen holds a 3.816 GPA on a 4.0 scale. Christensen has made the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll every quarter, been on the Dean’s List six times, and a member of the BIG EAST All-Academic Team and NFCA All-American Scholar all three years.

Character

Christensen is a member of DePaul’s Captain’s Council where she works with fellow captains on other DePaul athletic teams to discuss opportunities for athletes to reach out to one another and other students across campus to create a sense of community. As an elementary education major, Christensen has put in over 145 hours of observation work at schools throughout the city in order to enhance her skills and knowledge of working towards becoming a teacher.

Community

Christensen has volunteered her time throughout her collegiate career to a variety of organizations throughout Chicago including the Ron Santos Walk for Diabetes at which she ran registration and participated in the walk; the St. Pat’s Youth Group where she organized and lead multiple team-oriented games for children ages 8 to 10; the Oz Park District School where she organized and coached softball for children ages 6 to 8; and the “Santa Mike and Friends” event through the St. Vincent DePaul Center where those in need were given clothing, medical care and a hot meal.

Beginning in 2013, Christensen, along with the rest of the DePaul softball team, adopted a child with a chronic illness through Team IMPACT. Christensen welcomes the child to practices, games and celebrates special events with her. For the last three years, Christensen has been active at DePaul softball camps, working with her teammates to teach young girls and teenagers ages eight to fifteen the fundamental skills and tools of softball needed to compete at the collegiate level.

Competition

In her debut season with DePaul, Christensen was named the 2014 BIG EAST Rookie of the Year and named to the All-BIG EAST First Team and BIG EAST All-Tournament Team. In 2016, she was named to the All-BIG EAST First Team and BIG EAST All-Tournament Team.

In her freshman season, Christensen hit in the cleanup spot for offense that broke the all-time DePaul record for RBI and led the team with 20 RBI in conference games. In her sophomore campaign, Christensen tallied the second-most multi-hit games of the season with 12 and ranked second on the team with nine doubles and a .988 fielding percentage. Last season, she helped the Blue Demons to their regular season championship title for the second year in row and finished second on the team with 28 runs and 57 hits, first on the team with 16 doubles and third on the team with 18 RBI.
