Character

Mayi Kith never turns down a media obligation. As she is a competitive player and four-year starter, she takes it upon herself to teach the new additions to the back line.

Community

Mayi Kith has made visits to the WVU Children’s Hospital and the Ronald McDonald House with her teammates. She also has assisted in the program’s efforts to raise money for breast cancer research and has volunteered at WVU women’s soccer team camps and clinics.

Competition

A four-year starter at center back, Mayi Kith has started 72 of 76 career matches. She has helped WVU claim two Big 12 Conference regular-season titles and the 2016 Big 12 Soccer Championship. WVU has qualified for the NCAA Tournament each season since her rookie season in 2015, advancing to the Elite Eight in 2015, NCAA College Cup Final in 2016, and the Sweet 16 last season. As of nomination time, the Mountaineers held a 59-11-9 (21-1-2 Big 12) record with Mayi Kith, and the WVU defense had posted 48 shutouts in that time-frame (through games played until Sept. 2, 2018). Mayi Kith also showed one career point (an assist).

This season Mayi Kith was a member of the 2018 Preseason All-Big 12 Team and had already landed on the Boilermaker Challenge Cup All-Tournament Team. In 2017, Mayi Kith was named to the All-Big 12 Second Team, claimed the Team’s Defensive MVP honor and was a Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week honoree—an award she also won once in 2016.

Mayi Kith previously played for the Canadian U-17 National Team and competed at the 2014 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, helping the team win silver at the 2013 CONCACAF Women’s U-17 Championship.
