Ebony Nwanebu is a 2016-2017 Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll honoree.

Character

Nwanebu is a selfless, caring and inspirational member of the team. She has suffered from performance anxiety and has used it in many outlets to try and help others with the same struggles. She genuinely wants to help and has no problem exposing her own problems and sharing her story to help others. On the court she is encouraging, helpful and motivational. She truly is a great person and an irreplaceable asset to the team.

Community

The list of Nwanebu’s involvements with the community include the following events and organizations: Longhorn Halloween, Anderson Mill Elementary, UT & Me National Women & Girls in Sports Day, Mainspring Schools, Orange Santa Toy Drive, Boone Elementary School Spring Carnival, CC Mason Elementary Family Fitness Night, volleyball mentoring, TexasTHON, Supply the Teachers, Special Olympics competitions and Austin Independent School District Volleyball Play Day.

Competition

Nwanebu was a 2016 Honda Award finalist. She has other honors including 2016 AVCA All-America First Team, 2016 VolleyballMag.com first-team All-America, NCAA All-Tournament Team, Austin Regional Most Valuable Player and 2016 All-Region First Team. She was the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week on November 21 and September 26, 2016. She also was named to the All-Big 12 Preseason Teams in 2015 and 2016.
