Classroom

Delle Donne carries a 3.63 cumulative grade point average, is a consistent Dean’s List student, and was named the 2012 Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-American of the Year for Women’s Basketball. She also was named the 2012 Colonial Athletic Association Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year and the 2012 CAA Women’s Basketball Scholar-Athlete of the Year. In addition, she is a four-time member of CAA Academic Honor Roll.

Character

Delle Donne earned the 2012 Honda Inspiration Award presented by the Collegiate Women Sports Award program in August, 2012 in Los Angeles. The award is in recognition of commitment and courage in the face of adversity and is given each year to an athlete who has overcome hardship to excel in her sport. Delle Donne originally signed to play at national power Connecticut but left to return home to be closer to her sister, Lizzie, who was born with cerebral palsy and is deaf and blind.

Community

Delle Donne is active in numerous Delaware team community service activities, including visits to A.I. duPont Children’s Hospital and work with Delaware Special Olympics.

Competition

One of the top candidates for national Player of the Year honors in 2012-13, Delle Donne was a consensus 1st team All-American in 2012 when she led Delaware to a 31-2 record, an unbeaten Colonial Athletic Association record (21-0), its first CAA Tournament title, and the team’s second berth into the NCAA Tournament. Delaware won its first ever post-season game in the NCAA before losing to Kansas in the second round. The team was ranked as high as No. 7 in the nation. Delle Donne led all NCAA Division I players in scoring in 2011-12 at 28.1 points per game and also led team in rebounds (10.3 rpg), blocks (86), steals (39), three-point field goals (52), and free throw shooting (.889). She is a two-time Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Year and three-time first team All-CAA selection.
