Classroom

Polidori is a Nursing major at Oakland University where she maintains a 3.48 GPA. She is also the Secretary for Student Nurses, where she enjoys various opportunities to participate in activities that help the community through numerous non-profit organizations. Her teammates look up to her for her leadership in academics among other avenues.

Character

Erika’s leadership and character both on and off the field is unmatched. Her work ethic is second to none and her teammates are drawn to her for those reasons. She teaches others without even realizing it through determination, ability and humility. She is a great athlete, person and leader. In addition to her responsibilities in the classroom and with the OU softball team, her personal philanthropy speaks volumes to level of character Erika possesses. On her own time, she has been involved with Relay for Life, Turning Point Shelter, Toy and Book Drive for Beaumont Hospitals, Ataxia-Telangiectasia (A-T) Awareness Fundraiser and she has been a Red Cross volunteer for OU blood drives. She is also a softball SAAC representative (3 years), a member of the Academic Sub-Committee and part of the GOLD Program Review Committee.

Community

Polidori has been involved with numerous community service groups and activities. She has helped to run activities for children as part of YMCA’s Halloween event, collected canned goods to help feed the hungry benefiting the Baldwin Center and collected change and run activities for the Village Parade with the Salvation Army Bell Ringing. She has also painted and cleaned new homes through Habitat for Humanity, participated in Make a Difference Day by helping with the upkeep of community centers and helped out with eating disorder awareness on OU’s campus The Inner Door Center. Per her interest in nursing, Polidori has volunteered with the Brantford General Hospital in recovery units and the Emergency Department

Competition

Polidori was recognized on the College Sports Madness Preseason All-League team prior to the 2014 season. She holds a .338 batting average for her career and has been the starting catcher for each of her three seasons at Oakland. She has recorded 71 runs on 119 hits including 12 homers. She carries a fielding percentage of .965 and 403 total put outs. Erika has led the team in batting average, hits and runs for the past two seasons. She was recognized as an all-league performer each of her three seasons at Oakland in The Summit League (second team freshman year, first team sophomore and junior seasons) and earned second team honors on College Sports Madness’s Preseason All-League poll prior to the 2013 season. During the summer of 2013, Erika played for the Canadian National Team - a team for which she still holds a place on the roster.
