Classroom

A three-time BIG EAST All-Academic Team selection and 2014 NFCA Scholar-Athlete, Burner has been able to balance out her athletic ability and academic integrity throughout her collegiate career, accumulating a 3.35 cumulative GPA that includes a 3.83 this past fall.

Character

Since coming on her recruiting trip to St. John’s during which she seemed very shy and did not say many words to the coaches or players, Burner has turned into the team’s leader on and off the field. Her experience as a softball player and her professional experience through internships has developed her into a leader, both physically and verbally, that the underclassmen look to when faced with any type of adversity.

Community

Burner has taken a large role in the team’s community service efforts at St. John’s, helping to run and organize the various service events throughout the year: St. Nick’s Shelter, Midnight Run, Atria Senior Living Home and Ronald McDonald House.

Said Burner, “I have to make sure I have time for community service with our busy schedule. We make sure it’s important as a team and university, so we set time aside to help others and make sure that is a priority.”

Competition

Picked as a unanimous first team All-BIG EAST catcher last season, as well as a First-Team NFCA All-Great Lakes Region selection, Burner is the Red Storm’s leading player on both the offensive and defensive side of the field. With 29 career doubles and 30 career home runs, the senior is only 16 doubles and 12 home runs away from matching the program record. A .338 career hitter, Burner finished second in program history with a .722 slugging percentage last season while finishing third in home runs (14) and fourth in runs scored (39).
