Gavin Bayreuther is a sociology major with a sports studies and exercise science minor. His career interests include professional hockey player or coach. He’d also like to pursue a career in sports management or be an entrepreneur.

Character

As an assistant team captain, Bayreuther has developed into one of the elite players in Division I, and his leadership qualities have developed at the same time. He has the ability to be a difference-maker in games, and his teammates look to him at crucial points in games. In practice he makes players around him better through his work ethic, determination and skill level.

Community

Bayreuther has volunteered at a local church in Canton, N.Y., serving dinners on Wednesday nights. He also has volunteered for the food pantry in Concord, N.H., and collected money for the food bank in Canton. Bayreuther also coaches youth hockey clinics in Canaan, N.H., at Cardigan Mountain School during winter breaks.

Competition

Bayreuther earned second-team All America honors following the 2015-16 season when he became the first defenseman in program history to lead the team in scoring with 12 goals and 17 assists for 29 points. He was the ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Year in 2013-14 and is a two-time All-ECAC Hockey selection.
