Gerdarius Troutman holds a 3.76 GPA while majoring in communications and was a member of the Conference USA All-Academic Team as a junior. He helped FAU win the C-USA Team Academic Team Award for having the highest collective GPA in the conference and made the 3.0 Honor Roll both semesters last season.

Character

Troutman began his collegiate career at South Carolina State before returning to his home state of Georgia and playing at Gordon State College where he shot 52.6 percent from three-point range. He was named to the All-Georgia Collegiate Association second team. He started his FAU career coming off of the bench, and in his second game as a Owl scored 20 points against SIUE. He scored 20-plus points in back-to-back games against UTEP and UAB. He was inserted into the starting lineup and had two more double-digit games.

Community

Troutman has participated in several community events in and around campus, including events to raise awareness about sexual violence, promote inclusion of others and to fund alzheimer’s research. He has also spoken to elementary school students about the importance of academics and healthy eating.

Competition

Troutman is the team’s leading returning scorer in conference play from last season when he averaged 10.8 points per contest. He finished fourth in the conference in made three-pointers per game and three-point field goal percentage. He also led the nation in spot-up points per possession, according to Synergy Sports.
