Grant DeVore recorded a 3.6 GPA in Fall 2017. He graduated from Grayson Junior College cum laude with a 3.82 GPA and was an NTJCAC Academic All-American.

DeVore is a team captain this season. Head Coach Will Davis said they are expecting big things from him this season.

Devore worked with the local Buddy Walk, a fundraiser for the National Down Syndrome Society, in 2016 and 2017. He helped a Lamar University staff member gut her house after Hurricane Harvey and helped clean up the Cheney, Kansas, county fair grounds. He also transported water to the Southeast Texas Food Bank during Hurricane Harvey recovery efforts.

DeVore was named to the All-Southland Third Team as a utility player, one of six Cardinals earning All-Southland honors in 2017. He was among the toughest to strikeout in the Southland, with the third-best mark in the conference: 16.2 at-bats per strikeout. That mark also was 11th-best in the NCAA in 2017. He finished the season as the Cardinals’ hottest hitter with a .563 (18-for-32) batting average over his last nine games. He scored 11 runs with 12 RBI and three doubles in that span, and he ranked third on the team in batting average (.333)
