Character

A 2009 Team Co-Captain, Grant is also a member of UNC Leadership Academy as part Veteran Leaders Program.

“He was voted by his peers to be team captain.  Obviously that speaks volumes about the type of person, leader and player he is.  His ability to stay calm under pressure has helped the defense and the team overcome adversity throughout the year.  Grant has a natural kindness and level headedness about him, he has innate sportsmanship skills and yet he is as competitive as anyone on the field but when the game is over he is as classy a kid as there is win or lose.” Coach Joe Breschi

Community

Grant works with Carolina Dreams program that sponsors patients from the UNC Children’s Hospital for home athletic events.  He has worked with service projects at local Ronald McDonald House for UNC Hospitals and competed in Eve Carson Memorial 5K Run honoring slain UNC Student Body President Eve Carson.

Competition

Four year starter in goal, Grant is a 2009 Face-Off Yearbook preseason honorable mention All-America.  His pre-season honors also include being tabbed a 2009 Face-Off Yearbook preseason All-ACC.  Grant shared the Turnbull Trophy as UNC’s Most Valuable Player in 2008 and that same year he also won the Holmes Harden Award for winning most ground balls on the team.  During 2008, Grant was an U.S. Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association honorable mention All-America selection and an All-Atlantic Coast Conference Team selection.  Grant has started 32 successive games in goal through February 18, 2009 and earned ACC Player of the Week on both February 25, 2008 and March 10, 2008.
