Character

Prior to the 2017 season, Recor’s teammates voted him a captain for the second straight year. He has displayed his leadership as a team representative on the Marist College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) for three years. The organization recruits fellow student-athletes to serve the campus, Poughkeepsie and the surrounding area through a variety of community service programs and events. Its mission is to serve as a vehicle to promote communication between the athletic administration and student-athletes at Marist by providing a student-athlete voice within the department, discussing issues and concerns, and providing feedback as necessary.

Community

Recor has helped the Marist men’s lacrosse team win the Red Fox Challenge in five of the last seven semesters. The challenge is a Marist athletic department-based initiative that tracks team participation in community service. At the start of each fall semester he has volunteered for Freshman Move-In Day, and he has been active in the annual Hunger Walk and Giving Tree around the holidays. He also has participated in the Friends of Jaclyn Angel Walk, which honors and remembers all children and families affected by pediatric brain tumors and other childhood cancers, and the Make the World Purple Walk for domestic violence prevention. He will volunteer for the Haviland Middle School Sportsmanship Day for the second straight year. Recor made weekly visits to the Poughkeepsie Children’s Home last semester, helping the children with their homework and leading physical activity programs. He also donated and painted pumpkins for the home’s Pumpkin Walk this past year. The Poughkeepsie Children’s Home provides a range of services and programs giving hope and healing to abused and neglected children in the Hudson River region.

Competition

Recor has helped lead the Red Foxes to an appearance in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference championship game all three years he has worn a Marist uniform. Heading into 2017 he was named an Inside Lacrosse Preseason All-America Honorable Mention selection. Last season Recor finished 24th in the country with 1.73 assists per game and a .415 shot percentage. As of nomination time, his 100 career assists were fourth all time in Marist history and the most in the country among active players, while his 173 points were ninth all time in Red Foxes’ history and third in the nation among active players.

In the summer of 2015 he played box lacrosse for the First Nations Junior B Lacrosse League’s Rochester J-Hawks.

Recor reached the 100-point milestone his sophomore year having played in just 29 career games. That same season he helped the Red Foxes capture their first MAAC Championship in a decade and win an NCAA Tournament preliminary round game. In his first collegiate season (2014) he led all freshmen in the nation with 31 assists and ranked 11th nationally in assists per game. Recor’s individual awards include two-time All-MAAC Second Team honors, a MAAC All-Rookie Team selection and a spot on the All-MAAC First Team. He has notched a point in 28 consecutive games dating back to March 2015, a streak that puts him 17th in the nation at the start of this season. His career average of 2.08 assists per game is second among active NCAA Division I Men’s Lacrosse players.

Recor became Marist’s all-time assists leader with his 116th career assist against Drexel on March 4. The old mark of 115 had stood for almost two decades. In the same game he became the fourth Red Fox ever to reach 200 career points.

Recor is 14 assists away from breaking the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference all-time record of 129.
