Character

Tigh is highly respected by his teammates and coaches as one of the leaders. Head Coach Andy Shay described Tigh as “a great person, citizen and player,” and according to Shay, Tigh could even be considered a better person than he is a player.

Community

Tigh volunteered through a team initiative for the Vs Cancer Foundation to raise money for national cancer research and to support children undergoing treatment. In Garden City, New York, he works with Need for Speed. This non-profit program is focused on increasing the physical activity level of children with special needs. Every Tuesday night there is a clinic for local teenagers with special needs to increase their physical shape through fun and unique exercises. He also still has a very close relationship with one of the buddies he met during the Best Buddies program that he attended in middle school. He takes him out for lunch, dinner, bowling, or anything he wants to do when he is back home on break.

Competition

In 2018, Tigh was a unanimous first-team All-Ivy League selection, a first-team NEILA All-New England Team honoree, an NCAA Championship Weekend All-Tournament Team selection and a third-team USILA All-American. He was named to the Tewaaraton Award watch list and also recognized as the Ivy League Player of the Week once in 2018. He posted a career-high five goals and six points in the win over Michigan and finished the season with the 17th most goals (35) in school history for a single season. Tigh also scored three goals in the NCAA Championship Game win over Duke.
