Classroom

Jake Elliot is on pace to graduate in May and currently holds a 3.86 GPA in marketing management. He was named the American Athletic Conference Scholar-Athlete Sport Excellence Award Winner for football and was a nominee for the AFCA Good Works Team and the Wuerffel Trophy Watch List. Elliott also is a three-time American Athletic Conference All-Academic Team member and a six-time dean’s list honoree.

Character

Elliott has served as one of the team captains in each game so far this season. The coaching staff selects one player from each phase of the game to represent the team as game captains, and Elliott and one other player are the only players to have been selected team captains for their area in all games as of nomination time.

Community

Elliott has done a number of different hospital visits as part of the team’s bowl experiences in the past, but this year, he added visits to St. Jude Children’s Hospital and LeBonheur Children Hospital during the season.

Competition

On the field, Elliott is a two-time defending American Athletic Conference Special Teams Player of the Year and is a three-time first-team All-American Athletic Conference honoree. Last year, he was a finalist for the Lou Groza Award and is on the Groza Watch List again this year for a third straight season. Elliott was named a Walter Camp Foundation second-team All-American last year and also was named an Associated Press All-American (second team). He currently holds the record for consecutive PATs made at Memphis (162-for-162 for his career) and, as of nomination time, is the current NCAA leader in consecutive PATs made. He also ranked third in Memphis history in scoring with 357 points, trailing just Stephen Gostkowski (369) and DeAngelo Williams (362).
