Classroom

Fischer is majoring in marketing with a 3.363 cumulative GPA. He is on track to graduate in December 2013 but may add an additional business management major to graduate in May 2014. He is a two-time Pac-12 All-Academic honoree and was a 2012 CoSIDA Academic All-District selection.

Character

Fischer is the heart and soul of the Arizona football team. He leads by example with his actions, on and off the field, in the classroom and in the community. He was named a team captain as a junior and was twice Arizona’s defensive representative for Pac-12 Football Media Day. He is a great teammate in every way possible, mentoring younger players and serving as a leader for the whole squad. He conducts himself far beyond his years in his maturity, resiliency and respect for those around him.

Community

Fischer was a 2012 AFCA Good Works Team nominee. He has collected more than 40 hours of community service in his career and serves as a big brother on the football team, specifically mentoring one new freshman. A founding member of Arizona football’s chapter of Uplifting Athletes, Fischer is also an Arizona Student-Athlete Advisory Committee member.

Competition

Fischer was a member of the 2013 Lott Award Watch List and the 2013 Bednarik Award Watch List. He played in 39 games and has never missed a game in his competitive seasons (redshirted in 2011). Named 2012 All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention he was also a two-time Pac-12 Player of the Week. The 2012 team leader in tackles with 119 (76 solo and 43 assisted) averaged 9.15 tackles per game and was third on the team in TFL with 6.5 for 16 yards. He forced three and recovered four fumbles and had career-high 14 tackles in the 59-38 win over No. 18 Oklahoma State.
