Character

Head Coach Andy Copelan: “Jake is one of the finest people I’ve had the privilege to coach. He is a four-year contributor, two-year captain, potential class valedictorian and one of the most respected young men at Fairfield University. Jake is a role model on campus and in the community because of his selfless nature, his consistency in always choosing right and truly being a ‘man for others.’ Jake’s thumbprint on this program will be felt long after he is gone–a simply remarkable young man.”

Community

Knostman is a member of Fairfield’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, which spearheads multiple service projects each year. Most recently, Fairfield men’s lacrosse was the top collegiate fundraising team in the HEADstrong Foundation’s Mustache Madness. Individually, Knostman was one of four Stags to raise more than $1,000 toward that effort. He has also participated in event benefiting the Wounded Warrior Project, the Special Olympics and the Boys & Girls Club of Bridgeport.

Competition

A two-year captain of the Stags, Knostman has totaled 45 goals and 57 total points throughout the first three years of his collegiate career. He has helped guide the Stags to a conference regular season championship in each of his three seasons with the club (2014 ECAC, 2015 CAA, 2016 CAA).
