Jake Toolson graduated from Utah Valley University and is currently pursuing a master’s in public administration at BYU. He was named to the NABC Honors Court at Utah Valley in 2018-19.

Character

Toolson is a team leader that is always quick to help a teammate or offer an encouraging word. He is always willing to speak with the media to represent his team

Community

While at BYU as a freshman and sophomore, Toolson participated in the Mac’s Gift Foundation Christmas party. While at UVU, Jake and other members of the men’s basketball team took refugee children to a local amusement park.

Competition

Toolson has scored more than 1,000 career points between his time at BYU and Utah Valley. In 2018-19, he was the Western Athletic Conference Player of the Year and an All-WAC First Team honoree. Jake also received AP All-America Honorable Mention honors while averaging a team-best 15.7 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 2.3 assists. He shot 53.7 percent from the field, 44.8 percent from 3-point range, and 85.1 percent from the free-throw line in 2019-20. Jake was one of seven 180 shooters (FG%+3PT%+FT%=180-plus) in the country with a minimum 100 free-throw and 100 3-point field goal attempts. Jake was a three-time WAC Play of the Week and led Utah Valley to 25 wins and a postseason bid as a senior.
