Jama Sharp carries a 3.474 GPA into her senior year and is set to graduate in May with a degree in Sports Business. She is a two-time Atlantic Sun Conference Scholar-Athlete and has been selected to the league’s All-Academic team every year. She has twice been named to the Stetson University Honor Roll, and last year she earned a spot on the Dean’s List.

Character

Sharp has the highest regard for the integrity of the game. She consistently spends extra time in the gym and the weight room to work on her skills and conditioning, always for the betterment of the team. Although she is a true point guard, she willingly sacrificed her natural spot during her first two years by moving to a shooting guard position. She has become a true team leader, taking on the captain’s role as a junior and senior. She is not only a vocal leader but also one who leads by example, and she never asks anyone to do anything she wouldn’t also be willing to do herself. Sharp has not missed a single game in her career, playing in all 102 games entering her senior year.

Community

A native of Mooresville, Ind., Sharp consistently volunteers her time with area youth whenever she returns home. She serves as a mentor for young girls who are just starting out in high school, talking to them about what to expect in high school and during the college recruiting process. She also coaches 4th and 5th grade for the Mooresville Junior Girls’ Basketball League. Sharp also participates in community service activities at Stetson, including spending time with kids at a local orphanage.

Competition

Sharp had a tremendous season in 2013-14, earning First-Team All-Atlantic Sun Conference and Atlantic Sun All-Tournament Team honors. As the team’s point guard, she averaged 11.7 points, 5.2 assists and 2.4 steals per game. She ranked among the top 50 players in the NCAA in both assists (43rd) and steals (40th), and she helped lead Stetson to a school record of 27 victories. One of the top shooters in the league, Sharp hit 52 3-pointers last season and connected from long range at a .371 clip. Her 111 career 3-pointers ranks fifth in school history. A model of consistency, Sharp scored in double figures 24 times during the season and posted double-digit assist totals on four occasions. She helped lead Stetson to the championship game of the Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament and the second round of the postseason WNIT.
