James Burr achieved a 3.0 GPA during the fall 2018 semester as a business administration and management major. This comes after Burr was named to the 2018 Patriot League Academic Honor Roll with a 3.28 GPA.

Character

Burr was named a captain by his teammates for the 2019 season. He has shown tremendous leadership over his four years at BU and has been one of the team’s hardest workers on the field and in the strength and conditioning room. He overcame a torn ACL early in his collegiate career and has still managed to play every game for the Terriers. He has helped shape the culture of a young program that is only entering its sixth season in 2019.

Community

Burr has been involved with many community groups during his four years with the men’s lacrosse program. He helped the team raise a program-record $35,000 for Bike to the Beach, making it the largest annual fundraising event by a single team at Boston University. In his four years of work with Bike to the Beach, BU men’s lacrosse has raised more than $112,000. Burr has also been instrumental in the team’s efforts with the One Love Foundation and Harlem Lacrosse.

Competition

Burr was one of the most underrated players in the country this past season, scoring a program-record 45 goals and adding 11 assists for a career-high 56 points. Burr recorded a goal in all 17 games last year, including four goals on six shots in a Patriot League semifinal game at Loyola Maryland. That was one of 15 multi-goal games in 2018 for Burr. He has notched 97 career goals and needs just 12 goals in 2019 to set a new all-time record at BU. He has tallied at least 30 points in each season as a Terrier.
