Classroom

Spencer is enrolled in the honors program, majoring in Biology. She is a multiple-time member of the Maryland Academic Honor Roll and has made the ACC Academic Honor Roll each of her three years at Maryland, meaning she has had a 3.0 or better GPA for the full academic year.

Character

One of the team leaders both on and off the field, Spencer is one of the truly good people in college athletics. A family-first student-athlete, she honors her family each game by writing a Spencer-family saying on tape on her wrist. She is an animal advocate and has as a career ambition to work for the Discovery Channel or Animal Planet.

Community

Spencer was a main participant in helping the women’s soccer team win the 2010 CHAMPS/Lifeskills Cup at Maryland, which is given to the men’s and women’s teams that were distinguished in academic and athletic excellence, commitment to career and personal development and commitment to community service. She has been involved with numerous community service projects, including KICKS for Breast Cancer and the B+ Foundation.

Competition

One of the most dynamic scorers in the history of Maryland women’s soccer, Spencer enters the 2011 season tied for eighth in career goals (20) and is ninth in career points (50). She has also shown a knack for scoring key goals and is tied for fourth all-time at Maryland with eight game-winning goals. Spencer is a two-time first team All-ACC honoree and two-time first team NSCAA All-Region selection. Last season, she became the first Maryland women’s soccer student-athlete to earn NSCAA All-America honors since 1996.
