Jayne Oberdorf is a two-time selection to the Marist Dean’s List, which honors students for having a grade-point average of at least 3.6 in a semester. She also has been named to the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Academic Honor Roll in all three years she has been eligible and the MAAC All-Academic team both years she has been eligible by virtue of having a grade-point average of at least 3.2. Last year, she helped Marist earn an All-Academic Team honor by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association by having the 21st-highest team grade-point average in the country.

Character

Oberdorf is serving as one of three captains on this year’s team, which set a school-record with 45 wins last season. She is known for setting a good example both on and off the field and is the leader of Marist’s five-person pitching staff, being looked up to by the younger players on the team.

Community

Oberdorf has participated in several community service activities through her collegiate career. These include helping with a local little league clinic, making a trip to the Vassar Warner assisted living facility, taking part in the Wreaths Across America Wreath Pick-Up around Christmas, and participating in the Girl Scout Sport Sampler, an event held annually at Marist designed to show young girls different sports.

Competition

Oberdorf was named Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Year and Tournament Most Valuable Player last season. She also was named National Fastpitch Coaches Association first-team All-Region. In 2016, Oberdorf went 16-4 with a 2.02 ERA. She pitched her first career no-hitter, won 15 straight decisions over a span of nearly two months and tossed 26 straight scoreless innings in a span lasting from the final weekend of the regular season through the championship game of the conference tournament. She threw three consecutive shutouts in that span and finished last season with five shutouts, nine complete games and two saves. Oberdorf has led the MAAC in ERA each of the previous two seasons, as she posted a 2.56 mark in 2015, and she has been named MAAC Pitcher of the Week three times in her career. Oberdorf was named Preseason All-MAAC this year, as Marist was picked to defend its conference title after setting a school record with 45 wins last year. She entered her senior year ranked in the programs top 10 all-time in wins, strikeouts, ERA, innings pitched and appearances.
