A marketing major, Jessica Kovatch carries a 3.4 grade-point average and is a three-time member of the NEC All-Academic Team.

Character

Kovatch serves as a team captain and leads her teammates by example both on and off the court. She has positively represented Saint Francis in Northeast Conference promotional content and served as an ambassador for the Red Flash on a national stage when they advanced to the 2018 NCAA tournament. She always has a smile on her face and meets with fans following games for photos or autographs. Kovatch even gave one of her uniforms to a young fan who looks up to her as a role model.

Community

Kovatch helped organize the Walk to End Alzheimer’s and has helped raise $5,000 for breast cancer research. She participates in the annual fighting pancreatic cancer and breast cancer awareness games each season. Kovatch organized her teammates and participates in the annual Read-a-Thon at local elementary schools for Dr. Seuss’ birthday.

Competition

Kovatch is the all-time leading scorer in Northeast Conference men’s or women’s basketball history with 2,622 career points. She is second all-time in the NCAA with 431 career three-pointers. Both marks are currently first among active NCAA players.

The Phillipsburg, N.J. native is averaging 22.2 ppg over her four-year career, which ranks second among active NCAA players. She is averaging an NCAA-best 3.65 three-pointers per game over the past four seasons. In 2018-19, the senior guard is averaging 22.1 ppg, which ranks in top 10 in the country. Her 3.9 three-pointers per game this season is second in the NCAA.

Kovatch was the NEC Player of the Year in 2018. She was named as a finalist for the Nancy Lieberman Award last season and is on the watch list for the award this season. Kovatch is also on the Ann Meyers Drysdale and Wade Trophy watch lists in 2018-19. She has already been named NEC Player of the Week four times this season.
