Classroom

Jimmy Fiscus is a two-time Academic All-Big Ten Team member (2015, 2016). Under the direction of Head Coach Damon Rensing, last year was the second consecutive year that the men’s soccer team had won the MSU’s Athletic Director’s Award. All 18 team members qualified to attend the gala, and the team posted an overall GPA of 3.488.

Character

Fiscus is a two-time captain and is a true team leader. He is a vocal player who runs the MSU back line and is a leader on and off the field with the younger players. He has been a great example of what a student-athlete truly is during his four years at MSU.

Community

Fiscus has taken part in a variety of community-based activities including the following: volunteering at Marble Elementary through Athletes for Hope (2015-2017), serving at the East Lansing Food Bank (2014-2017), Miracle League of Mid-Michigan (2015-2017) and Habitat for Humanity in Des Moines (2016). He also assembled tree covers for an environment protection agency through Toldeo Metro Parks (2017).

Competition

Fiscus scored the game-winning goal against Cleveland State, was named to the Top Drawer Soccer Team of the Week, and was part of the MSU back line that had allowed one goal through the first five games prior to the nomination deadline (Sept. 7). He is a two-time captain and was named to the All-Big Ten and All-Region Second Teams. Fiscus started in all 20 of MSU’s matches last season and played every minute of all 20 games.
