Jocelyn Youngdahl ranks among the top academic student-athletes at Belmont University, with a 3.98 cumulative grade-point average in Entrepreneurship and a minor in Christian Leadership. The Stillwater, Minn., native has earned Ohio Valley Conference Commissioner’s Honor Roll placement for three consecutive years, including receiving the prestigious OVC Medal of Honor in 2012 for registering a 4.0 GPA. Youngdahl has earned Belmont University Dean’s List placement for six consecutive semesters and is a main reason why Belmont volleyball has earned the American Volleyball Coaches Association Team Academic Award (for team GPA of 3.30 or higher) for seven of the last nine years.

Character

Aside from serving as team captain for Belmont in 2015, Youngdahl has taken on numerous leadership positions. The senior currently serves as a leadership development intern at Lifeway Christian Resources, producing content for a digital training platform. This spring, Youngdahl, managed social media content for Reflection Music Group, while also sharing her talent in photography. She has also served as camp counselor at several youth volleyball camps, including Belmont.

Community

Youngdahl is an active volunteer on the Belmont University campus and in the local community. She currently serves as vice president of the Belmont chapter of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), organizing and spearheading a number of student-athlete led community service projects. Youngdahl serves on the membership team of guest-experience services at Crosspoint Church in Nashville. She also regularly serves at the Nashville Rescue Mission and at “Feed My Starving Children” in her native Minnesota.

Competition

Entering her senior campaign, Youngdahl is on pace to rank among Belmont’s career leaders in kills, blocks, hitting percentage and matches played. In her freshman campaign of 2012, Youngdahl burst on the scene, leading Belmont to an upset victory at Top 50 Morehead State for the OVC Championship. The victory gave Belmont University its first conference championship and NCAA Tournament berth as newly-minted members of the Ohio Valley Conference. Youngdahl had 270 kills and 258 digs in earning 2012 OVC All-Newcomer Team honors. After appearing in 27 matches as a sophomore, Youngdahl tallied 256 kills and 83 blocks as a junior, ranking top 10 in the league in hitting percentage and blocks per set.
