Johnny Den Bleyker has earned a 3.52 GPA in his political science major to own one of the highest academic averages on the team. He has been listed on the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll at UCLA in eight different quarters after posting a 3.0 GPA for the term. In 2018, he was named to the Pac-12 All-Academic Team.

Character

Den Bleyker is an extremely high-character individual who has utilized his laser focus to his advantage both on and off the field as a four-year starter and with one of the highest GPAs on the football team. He handles himself in a business-like manner at all times and has demonstrated a high level of maturity and integrity during his time at UCLA.

Community

Den Bleyker has taken part in visits to a local elementary school to speak on the value of the balance of sports and academics in one’s life. He has also been a part of UCLA’s efforts in the Prime Time Games program, which provides intervention programs for at-risk children from low-income areas of Los Angeles that combine academics, athletics, leadership training and the arts in order to prepare them for the future and allow them to reach their full potential.

Competition

Den Bleyker is beginning his fourth year as the starting long snapper at UCLA. He handled his mission in a nearly flawless manner and has been credited with two fumble recoveries on punt coverage. The past two seasons he has been selected to the watch list for the Long Snapper of the Year Award. He was a second-team All-Pac-12 selection by Phil Steele of ESPN following the 2018 season.
