Ribera, who maintains a 2.85 GPA in kinesiology, is on track to graduate in Fall 2011.

Character

Ribera is a leader on and off the field in Fresno. As the team captain, he leads the Bulldogs, keeps the team motivated and teaches the younger players. He takes care of business in the classroom and on the field. He is driven and willing to put the work in to succeed. He will graduate with a degree, three Western Athletic Conference Championships and a national championship.

Community

Ribera is the first guy on the team to volunteer for community service. He has spent time reading to children at elementary schools and teaching kids the importance of living a drug-free lifestyle and staying in school. Ribera has also volunteered at baseball clinics and is active in his father’s parrish in Clovis, Calif. He loves to speak to groups of all ages about his experiences and lessons he has learned while playing baseball.

Competition

Ribera had a breakout year in 2010. He led the team, league and nation in home runs with a total 27 on the year. He needs 20 more to break the all-time home run record. Last season was selected WAC Player of the Year and was named to several All-America teams. Ribera started every game and with .343 with 69 RBI and 86 hits, including 20 doubles and two triples. On the defensive side, he had a fielding percentage of .997.
