Josiah Price is a three-time Academic All-Big Ten selection and is on track to become just the 23rd Spartan to earn Academic All-Big Ten honors four times. He was named a 2015-2016 Big Ten Distinguished Scholar honoree and 2015 CoSIDA Academic All-District selection.

Character

Price was voted to the 12-man leadership council for the 2016 team and represents the team on the Student-Athlete Advisory Council. He is also one of the most active Spartans in the community.

Community

Price has been nominated for the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team, recognizing college football players who exemplify a superior commitment to community service and volunteerism, the past two years. He was also named to the Wuerffel Trophy Watch List for the second year in a row and named winner of the Gwendolyn Norrell Community Service & Leadership Award at the 2016 MSU Student-Athlete Support Services Academic Gala (presented to the student-athlete who best exemplifies the goals of the PACT [Putting Athletes and Community Together] program, excelling in the field of community service and outreach).

Price also received the MSU Football Players Association Community Service Award at the team banquet. In addition to actively participating in a variety of community service events, including the Ingham County Child Benefit Fund, DARE Graduations and March is Reading Month, Price also took part in a mission trip to South Africa during spring break of 2013 and spent two and a half weeks in Australia (June-July 2015) participating in MSU’s study abroad International Summer Sports Program.

Competition

Price is a fifth-year senior and three-year letter winner who had 66 catches for 851 yards (12.9 avg.) and 16 touchdowns in 39 career games, including 15 starts as of mid-September. He ranks first in school history among tight ends with 16 career TD receptions, which also ranks tied for seventh among all players in school history. Price was named a preseason All-Big Ten selection by Athlon Sports (second team) and named to the preseason watch list for the Mackey Award (nation’s most outstanding tight end). He has been a part of two Big Ten Championships, the 2015 College Football Playoff and wins in the Rose Bowl and Cotton Bowl. Price also was a third-team All-Big Ten selection by the coaches and media as a junior in 2015.
