Classroom

Jovani McCaskill has worked hard to turn around her performance in the classroom over her time with CSUN. After struggling initially, she has been able to perform much better in the classroom and will graduate this spring with a degree in marketing.

Character

McCaskill has exhibited leadership throughout her time with the Matadors. She has also bounced back from an injury-plagued 2015 season in which she played only three games due to a hand injury to return to the field in 2016 and help CSUN set numerous records.

Community

McCaskill has volunteered with the team at the Good Shepherd Shelter for Homeless Women and Children in Los Angeles multiple times. At the shelter she helped sort clothes, cook breakfast and organize recreational activities.

Competition

McCaskill is one of the top Matador goalkeepers in team history. She currently owns the lowest career goals-against average (0.58). Last season, she set a school record with 14 shutouts. McCaskill also finished fourth in the nation in shutouts and save percentage (.910) and fifth in goal-against average. She concluded 2016 by being named the Big West Goalkeeper of the Year, a member of the Big West First Team and National Soccer Coaches Association of America All-West Region First Team. With 23 career shutouts, McCaskill needs five more shutouts to become the program’s all-time career shutout leader in team history. This season, she has a 0.58 goals-against average and 0.833 save percentage.
