Justin Kloos is a two-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree, earning the award both years of eligibility. He has a cumulative GPA of 3.265 and is majoring in Agricultural/Food Business Management with a focus on financial analysis and business management.

Character

A two-time team captain, Kloos was named the team’s 2016 Elwin “Doc” Romnes Leadership & Sportsmanship Award winner. As of nomination time, he had not missed a game in his Gophers career.

Community

Kloos volunteers with youth hockey camps during the offseason and participates in Minnesota’s annual Skate with the Gophers event. He also visits the University of Minnesota Mason Children’s Hospital and has volunteered with Special Olympics Minnesota for its annual “Amazing Race.”

Competition

As of nomination time, Kloos was the active leading scorer in the Big Ten and one of the top active scorers in the nation with 112 points (47 goals, 65 assists) in 123 games. He led the Gophers to the first three Big Ten regular-season titles in conference history as well as the 2015 Big Ten Tournament title. He also helped the Gophers reach the NCAA national championship game as a freshman in 2014.

For his efforts, last season he was named Minnesota’s 2016 John Mariucci Most Valuable Player.
