Kasey Elswick

Classroom

Elswick is pursuing a BS in accounting (expected in May 2013). She has a 3.97 GPA overall, 4.0 in accounting. She was named a 2011 Academic All-American (honorable mention). She has been a Dean’s List member every semester in school at UTM. She won the OVC Academic Medal of Honor (4.0 GPA) two consecutive years and was a member of the2010 OVC Commissioner’s Honor Roll. She was the 2010 UTM Lower Division Accounting, Finance, Econmics and Political Science Outstanding Student Award winner and a 2011 NCAA All-District Academic award winner (across three states). She was the 2012 Faculty Scholar for College of Business and Global Affairs award winner and plans to earn her master’s and sit for the CPA exam.

Character

Elswick is a 2010-12 team captain. She is active in learning leadership attributes and believes in overcoming obstacles by getting respect from her teammates first. She believes a leader must always give 100 percent because teammates are following their example.

Community

Elswick has volunteered for Habitat for Humanity (helped build a home for family in need and a health clinic for women). She collected toiletries for families staying at St. Jude Childrens’ Research Hospital and volunteered at UTM Fellowship of Christian Athletes All-Sports Camp.

Competition

Elswick recorded 852 digs in 2011, a single-season NCAA Division-I record. She was named the 2011 OVC Defensive Player of the Year for the second consecutive season. She amassed 1,963 digs – shattering the previous UT Martin record for career digs (1,401) in three seasons. She is UT Martin’s single-season record holder in digs in 2011, and she tallied the most digs in a single match in school history (46 in four sets at Eastern Kentucky on Sept. 23, 2011).
