Katie Hillman

Classroom

University of Delaware outside hitter Katie Hillman has been an outstanding student throughout her college career and maintains a 3.591 GPA entering her senior year. She was UD’s representative on the 2014 CAA All-Academic Team and has earned CAA Academic Honor Roll accolades during her first three years. She is a Dean’s List student who is a member of the UD Honors Program. Most recently, Hillman completed a nursing internship in India over the summer.

Character

Hillman is a leader on the team and is serving as team captain during her senior year. For the third consecutive year she is a member of the UD Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC), which values community service and outreach throughout the Newark area.

Community

Hillman has volunteered with the CAA Food Drive and A.I. duPont Children’s Hospital. She was a peer mentor at local Gilpen Elementary School and also participated in Oberle Elementary School’s Reading Day. In addition, Hillman is a HENS Peer Mentor on campus.

Competition

Hillman was named second-team All-CAA during the 2014 season and is a Preseason All-CAA pick this year. She recently went over the 1,000 kills mark for her career. Last season she started all 32 matches for UD, and ranked sixth in the conference with 3.21 kills per set. She was also second in the CAA and tied for 51st in the NCAA with 41 service aces. Katie led the Blue Hens with eight double-doubles and reached double digit kills in 20 matches.
