Classroom

Hampton is majoring in communications and media with a 3.185 cumulative GPA. She was a I-AAA Scholar Athlete in 2010-11. She is a three-time BIG EAST All-Academic Team selection and is expected to graduate in June 2012. She is an eight-time DePaul Athletics Director Honor Roll recipient and has been on DePaul’s Dean’s List two quarters. She would like to play professionally either overseas or in the WNBA. Once her playing career has concluded, Hampton would like to coach and pursue a career in sports broadcasting. She helped DePaul to a No. 3 finish in the WBCA Team Academic Poll in 2010-11, a No. 8 ranking in 2009-10, and a No. 11 spot in 2008-09

Character

Hampton was a member of the USA Basketball World University Games team that went to China. The USA team spent time with fans and World University Games volunteers, signing autographs and taking photos. She is a four-year starter at DePaul and leads the country with 102 consecutive starts. She is the captain of the 2011-12 team and a member of DePaul’s Captains’ Council. She participated in DePaul’s Vincentian Heritage Tour in France during the summer of 2010. She was also a camp counselor at Bruno Ball camps, which helps to grow the game of women’s basketball, during several week-long camps in the summer. She worked with Germantown Friends as a counselor helping Philadelphia inner-city kids with reading, writing and basketball following her freshman season.

Community

Hampton has participated in the following activities: Misericordia Candy Days, Vincent DePaul Feed the Homeless Sandwich Drive, St. Vincent DePaul Soup Kitchen, DePaul food and clothing drives, Sheffield Garden Walk Volunteer, participated in “Open Streets on State Street,” Taste of Chicago Basketball Clinic volunteer, basketball Autograph Days and attended DePaul University Student-Leader meetings.

Competition

Hampton is on the 2011-12 Preseason Wooden Award List and Preseason Wade Watch List.. She was a preseason unanimous All-BIG EAST selection and was named a 2011-12 first-team preseason All-American by Sporting News, Athalon and College Sports Madness. She played on the USA National World University Games Roster in 2011. She was a State Farm/WBCA All-America honorable mention and Associated Press honorable mention All-American as a junior. She earned All-BIG EAST Championship team honors in 2011 and earned DePaul’s co-MVP honors with Felicia Chester as a junior. She was named MVP of the Maggie Dixon Classic and to the Preseason WNIT All-Tournament Team during 2010-11 season. She was a first-team unanimous All-BIG EAST selection as a junior, second-team all-BIG EAST performer as a sophomore and a member of the BIG EAST All-Freshman Team. She has started every game at DePaul (102 consecutive games) and reached double figures in 72 of her career 102 games (70.6 percent). She begins her senior campaign with 1,375 points, 513 rebounds and 201 assists. In her three previous seasons at DePaul, Hampton has helped the Blue Demons to the Sweet 16 in 2011 as well as three consecutive NCAA Tournament berths. She has helped DePaul achieve the program’s highest ever ranking in the Associated Press Poll, when the Blue Demons ranked No. 7 in February. DePaul finished the 2010-11 season ranked No. 10 in both National Polls.
