Faried is on track to graduate on time in university studies after the completion of his senior season. He ranks among the top four in GPA among men’s basketball returnees.
Character
Faried is a two-year team captain and is well respected by his teammates. He is always willing to stop for fans, even in the middle of a media interview. Faried was Morehead State’s nominee for the Steve Hamilton Sportsmanship award, one of the most prestigious awards given by the Ohio Valley Conference.
Community
Faried participated in the annual Multiple Sclerosis walk at Don Greenhill Park on Saturday, Sept. 11. More than 300 people participated in the even, which raised more than $12,000. He joins his teammates at local elementary schools to read a lecture to Morehead-area kids. Faried also helps out at Morehead State basketball camps.
Competition
Faried is the reigning OVC Player of the Year and a two-time OVC Defensive Player of the Year. In each of the past two seasons, he has averaged a double-double and finished top three in the nation in rebounding, including collecting 13 rebounds per game last year. Faried ranks second on the school’s all-time rebounding list.
