Classroom

Curtin is a five time Dean’s List member, four time Hobart Deans Scholar, three time Statesmen Scholar, Trustee Scholar, Hale Scholar, a two time Alumni Association award winner, three time Eastern College Athletic Conference All-Academic team member, member of the Chimera Society, and a member of the Druid Society.

Character

“I learned about Kevin’s character long before he arrived at Hobart in the fall of 2006,” says Hobart head lacrosse Coach T.W. Johnson. “Kevin’s high school coach, Sean Smith, enthusiastically described Kevin as his favorite player that he could lean on in any situation on or off the field. My experience with Kevin has been similar. Kevin is a selfless person that consistently puts others in front of himself. He is willing to stop what he is doing to lend a helping hand. To me, Kevin defines the term student-athlete. Sure student-athletes excel in the classroom and have talent and work ethic on the field, but special student-athletes also have character. Kevin is a true student-athlete. I could easily go on and on with a list of attributes, but I think the voice of Kevin’s teammates is stronger. Kevin received votes from 96 percent of our roster when we voted for captains this year. His teammates used terms like role model, positive attitude, responsible, good person, puts the team first, and makes great decisions wherever he goes. I cannot think of better or more accurate words to describe Kevin.”

Community

In 2006, Curtin went to help rebuild the city of New Orleans. In the fall of 2008, he ran a lacrosse clinic on weekends with kids of the local YMCA. He volunteers for the Geneva Rotary Club’s annual Santa Train. He rings the bells for the Red Kettle Drive. He also participates in the Penguin Plunge, a fundraiser for a local breast cancer support group.

Competition

Curtin finished second on the team in goals, assists, and points. He led the team with three game-winning goals. He was named to the ECAC Weekly Honor Roll three times in 2009.
