Goessling maintains a 3.24 GPA in Business. He has been named academic All-WAC three times in his career and was a CoSIDA Academic All-District honoree in 2009. He is also active in the Business fraternity on campus, Delta Sigma Pi.
Goessling is a great leader on and off the field. The senior handled the scrutiny of the media and fans after missed kicking attempts with class. He went out and worked hard every day to become the best and perform well under pressure. He is now a fan favorite in Fresno. Goessling is there for his teammates whether they need to be pushed and motivated or just need a laugh. He is hard working and tough on the football field, and one of hte most lively guys off the field.
Goessling is very active in the Central Valley. When he is not on the field, Goessling is volunteering in local schools and retirement homes. He particiaptes in the Read Across America program, where he visits elementary schools and reads to students. He also spends time at the local children’s hospital and through his fraternity, Goessling has halped raised money for the ALS Foundation and participated in Kid’s Day fundraising. With his fraternity and another locoal sorority, he put on a prom for residents of a local retirement home.
In 2010, Goessling earned his second straight first-team All-WAC distinction and also was a semifinalist for the Lou Groza Award, given to the nation’s top kicker, for the second year in a row. As a junior, he made 20 of 24 field goals, 40 of 42 PATs and led the team in scoring (105 points).
