Classroom

Kevin Vannatta was named to the 2016-17 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District 3 Men’s Basketball First Team. He was also tabbed as a DI-AAA ADA Scholar-Athlete and chosen to the NABC Honors Court last season as well. In the classroom, Vannatta owns a 3.927 GPA as an accounting major. He is on the Accounting Department Advisory Board and is a member of the Beta Gamma Sigma Honors Society. He spent this past summer in the operations analyst program at JP Morgan Chase & Co.

Character

Vannatta is a leader on the UNC Asheville campus as the president of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). In his role he is also the Big South’s representative on the National SAAC. In addition to all of this, Vannatta is also on the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Oversight Committee.

Community

Kevin Vannatta along with the rest of UNC Asheville men’s basketball help volunteer their time at Woodfin Elementary. He also volunteers his time to numerous organizations and was selected as a nominee for the Allstate Good Works Team last season.

Competition

Last season, Vannatta played in all 33 games, starting 32. He finished his junior campaign averaging 9.1 points, 4.5 rebounds and team-best and league fifth-best 3.3 assists per game. Vannatta’s 110 assists on the year were also a career-best. Vannatta led the Big South in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.93). He entered his senior season with 913 career points.
