Classroom

Kiah Stokes has a cumulative GPA of 3.397, and she has been named to the Director of Athletics’ Honor Roll for six consecutive semesters.

Character

Stokes has been the women’s basketball team’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee representative and been involved in a number of community service endeavors. She has grown into a leadership role, showing the greatest leadership jump from last spring until now. She is very caring and connected to everyone on the team in a quiet way and is always involved and attentive to her teammates. She has done a great job taking care of the freshmen and really fosters an inclusive atmosphere on the team.

Community

Stokes has been involved in several community service projects. She helped her team collect more than 3,500 food items for a Thanksgiving food drive benefiting Hockanum Valley Community Council, which is a local food pantry. She colored, played games and danced with terminally ill children at the Hole in the Wall Gang Camp Christmas party. Stokes visited seniors in the Immanual House and joined hundreds of supporters for Autism research by participating in East Hartford’s Autism Walk. She also spoke at a local middle school to help high-achieving students learn more about the value of nutrition and physical activity, and she also has spontaneously collected food and money to benefit local food pantries.

Competition

A member of the 2013-14 All-American Athletic Conference Second Team, Stokes enters her senior season eighth on UConn’s all-time blocked shots list with 178 career rejections. She has shot at a 61.2 percent clip from the field in her career, and if she were to maintain that through her senior year, that 61.2 percent mark would be third on UConn’s all-time field goal percentage list. Her 278 rebounds in 2013-14 were the sixth-most ever pulled down by a UConn junior and her 89 rejections were the third-most by a Husky junior. Stokes also was a member of the 2011-12 Big East All-Freshman Team.
