Kyle Funkhouser

Classroom

Kyle Funkhouser is on track to complete his degree in marketing in May 2016 and has consistently excelled in the classroom, maintaining a GPA above 3.0 entering his final semester. As a junior, he was named to the 2015 All-ACC Academic Team. Despite being selected in the first round of the 2015 Major League Baseball Draft by the Los Angeles Dodgers, Funkhouser elected to return to Louisville for his senior season focused on earning his degree and leading his team to its third College World Series appearance in four years.

Competition

Funkhouser was selected in the 1st round (35th overall) of the 2015 MLB Draft by the Los Angeles Dodgers. He was a 2015 third-team Louisville Slugger All-American and an All-ACC First Team selection. In 2014, Funkhouser was a first-team ABCA All-American, a second-team Louisville Slugger and NBCWA All-American, and a third-team Baseball America’s and Perfect Game All-American. He also was on the 2014 Louisville Regional All-Tournament Team and a first-team all-conference selection. In 2013, Funkhouser was a Louisville Slugger Freshmen All-American. He entered the 2016 season ranked second in career wins at Lousiville (26), second in career strikeouts (281), fourth in career pitching starts (41) and sixth in career innings pitched (281.1).
