Classroom
Venter is a 2012 NSCAA Scholar All-American and a repeat member of the Academic All-MPSF Team. He carried a 3.44 grade point average through the 2012-13 Academic Year.
Character
Venter is the team’s unquestioned vocal leader from his position in the backline and is a fan favorite who stays after every game until every autograph request is filled.
Community
Venter is part of numerous community service projects including free clinics for local Native American youth from pueblos and reservations throughout the state of New Mexico. He has been a staff member at all of the team’s youth camps.
Competition
Venter is a two-time All-American who can become program’s first-ever three-time All-American this year. A First Team All Region as a sophomore and junior he has made multiple appearances on TopDrawerSoccer’s National Team of the Week. A First Team All-Conference member in 2011 and 2012 he is on pace to break numerous all-time team records including minutes played and games started. He tallied 7 goals and 3 assists through three seasons as a defender and scored UNM’s first goal in their 3-1 defeat of Virginia in the second round of the 2012 NCAA Tournament.
