Classroom

Dantzler has been named to the 2012 Southeastern Conference Academic Honor Roll. He currently owns a cumulative GPA of 3.641.  Since enrolling at South Carolina in the Fall of 2011, he has been named to the Dean’s List all three times (3.5 GPA or better).  He has received a mark of an “A” in 27 of the 38 college courses he has taken.

Character

LB has been elected as one of three team captains for the 2013 baseball season. Skilled and diligent worker wants to make sure everything is done as perfectly as possible. Dantzler is always early to an activity, never late.

Community

LB organized a “percent night” with the Carolina Ale House in which 10 percent of all proceeds made at the restaurant on November 27, 2012, would be donated to the Epworth Children’s home, an orphanage in Columbia, S.C., that helps care for underprivileged kids. He has recorded 50-plus community service hours for volunteering at the Epworth Children’s Home. In his time there, he helped build a life size nativity scene, refurbish the interior of a house on campus, and joined in the everyday clean up activities that take place at the orphanage. A member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. LB also worked with the United States Tennis Association as a competition intern in the summer of 2012 in which he helped organize many junior tennis tournaments around the state of South Carolina. LB has also volunteered to work six baseball camps as an instructor for a high school baseball team between the years of 2008-2010. While living in Florida, LB spent time volunteering at the Humane Society once a week for about a year.

Competition

Dantzler started all 69 games in 2012 at third base and made only five errors to help lead the Gamecocks to a 2012 National Runner-Up finish. He hit .262 with 10 homers and 48 RBI. LB earned the team’s Gold Glove Award at the 2012 banquet with a phenomenal .972 fielding percentage at third base.  He was named to the 2012 NCAA Regional All-Tournament Team. In that Regional, LB had a walk-off game-winning RBI single in the 12th inning of a 5-4 win over Clemson. Dantzler also had a walk-off RBI single in a 2-1 win over Tennessee. He was named by SEBaseball.com to 2012 All-SEC team.
