Classroom

Lesley Rogers is expected to graduate in May 2011 with a degree in sociology. She has a 3.8 grade point average and has been a member of the Dean’s List every semester. She was a member of the All Pac 10 Academic team in both 2009 and 2010. She is interested in pursuing a career in human resource management.

Character

The biggest obstacle Rogers had to overcome in her softball career was when she faced a possible career-ending injury to her shoulder, which required surgery shortly before her 17th birthday.  Recovery from a labral tear is difficult, and requires extensive rehab and patience.  She followed her surgeon’s recovery program exactly as he laid it out for her and was fortunate to experience a full recovery.  Her arm strength and accuracy came back even better than before the injury.  During her rehab, the coaches at Arizona State showed confidence in her ability to recover and she was determined to become a contributing member of the Sun Devil softball team.  She knows the importance of a strong work ethic, and always shows her coaches the respect they deserve. To Rogers, the success of the team is more important than individual honors.  That is why she treasures her 2008 national championship ring, which represents, “One team, one goal.”

Community

Rogers has participated in the Race for the Cure,  Special Olympics, the Sparky Tour to promote education and the Adopt-a-Devil program.

Competition

Rogers was a member of the All Pac 10 second team in 2009 and 2010. She was an NCAA super regional participant as a junior and an NCAA Women’s College World Series participant as a freshman and sophomore. She was a member of the All WCWS Tournament Team in 2008, when her team won the NCAA Division I Championship.
