Classroom

Miller is a two-time member of the Academic All-Big 12 First Team and a three-time CHAMPS/Texas A&M Scholar Athlete. She is majoring in human resource development with a double minor in business administration and sport management. A two-time nominee for CoSIDA Academic All-America honors, Miller is on track to graduate in August 2013. During the 2012 spring semester, she volunteered in the Texas A&M Athletic Department’s business office, working 15 hours a week helping human resources in multiple areas including payroll, organizing a newly implemented employee data base and assisting with new hire and camp files to get more experience in her major.

Character

Miller is not only a team captain, but she is a leader in so many ways on and off the court. Her work ethic on the court, in the weight room and in the classroom is unmatched, and she makes those around her better. An even-keeled individual, she is reliable and consistent and has the ability to get teammates on board and going in the same direction and does it in such a way that those around her are motivated to do well for her.

Community

Miller has volunteered at numerous events that benefit the community, and she is a member of several organizations related to athletics and academics. She has volunteered at Hard Hats for Little Heads, a program that teaches children about wearing helmets when riding bikes, skateboarding, etc., to reduce head injuries. She also has helped with the annual Aggies CAN Food Drive, the nation’s largest student-athlete run canned food drive, and has volunteered at Sports Fest, an event that introduces children to different sports. Miller is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management, an academic group related to her major, and she also is a member of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee and Aggie Athletes Involved, a community service group comprised of student-athletes.

Competition

Miller has started every match in her three-year career and has led the team in hitting percentage, total blocks and blocks per set every year. She enters her senior season ranked sixth in the A&M career records with 302 block assists and is eighth in career points with 938 and ninth in total blocks with 346. As junior, Miller was named AVCA Honorable Mention All-America, AVCA All-Central Region Team and All-Big 12 First Team as she led Texas A&M to a 23-8 record and the second round of the NCAA Championship. She was a two-time all-tournament team selection and received Texas A&M’s Best Offensive Player Award at the conclusion of the season. Miller led Texas A&M starters with 1.19 blocks and a .328 hitting percentage, ranking third and seventh, respectively in the Big 12 Conference. She also led the team and ranked third in the league with 1.27 blocks per set and sixth in the conference with a .342 hitting percentage in Big 12 matches only. She ranked second on the team with 3.34 points per set and third with 2.62 kills per set in all matches. As a sophomore, Miller led A&M and ranked seventh in the Big 12 with 1.1 blocks per set. She also ranked sixth in the Big 12 with 1.17 blocks per set in conference matches only. She ended the season having led or tied for team-high honors in blocks in a team-leading 18 matches. Miller capped her rookie campaign by becoming A&M’s first representative on the Big 12 All-Freshman Team after leading the Aggie starters and ranking eighth in the conference with a .310 hitting percentage for the full season. She was the recipient of the Texas A&M Most Improved Player Award at the season-end team banquet after helping the Aggies reach the NCAA Championship regional.
