With a 4.0 GPA , Lindsey Ozimek is expected to graduate in May 2008 as a Special Education major. She is a two-time ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American and was named First-Team Academic All-American in 2006 and Third-Team in 2005. She is a two-time first-team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District III selection, member of Chancellor’s list and Atlantic 10 Commissioner’s Honor Roll each semester, and two-time Academic All-Atlantic 10 selection. She is also a member of the NSCAA/adidas Scholar All-South region team and earned the Athletic Department’s highest honor with the Bonnie Cone Award for Academic Excellence. Finishing up her senior season Lindsey has been named first-team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District. She also has the honor of being the Atlantic 10 Women’s Soccer Student-Athlete of the year.

Character

Ozimek is a born leader and was selected an unprecedented three times as team captain. She works with special education and handicapped students. She is also married and has been able to maintain her high standard of excellence on the field, in the classroom, and in the community while maintaining her family life.

Community

Working with the less fortunate has been one of Ozimek’s committments to the community. She has donated time and effort towards working with Toys for Tots, and tutoring elementary kids for the Police Athletic League. She has offered service to numerous youth soccer clinics, and also soccer clinics for handicapped children. She has also made major contibutions to programs like Kidney Walk.

Competition

Ozimek is a 2007 Preseason All-Atlantic 10 selection and heads into her senior season already holding the school’s assist records for career (32) and single-season (19). She is a three-time team captain and member of the United States U-20 national team that captured the CONCACAF Championship. She was captain of the United States U-17 national team and made two-time first-team All-Atlantic 10 selection. She is a two-time Atlantic 10 All-Tournament participant and leader of a 49ers team which tied the school record with eight Atlantic 10 wins . She is also a two-time North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Assocation All-State selection, and two-time Soccer Buzz All-Southeast region selection. She earned second-team NSCAA All-Southeast region honors in 2006, MVP of the 2005 Carolinas’ Cup, and Soccer Buzz freshman All-American in 2004. Lindsey has finished on a strong note in her final senior campaign. She was named the Atlantic 10 Midfielder of the year while also earning her third straight first team All Atlantic 10 honors. She also was a central force in helping the University win a school record nine Atlantic 10 games and capture their second straight Atlantic 10 regular season title.
