Classroom

Livi Logan-Wood, a forward at Saint Louis University, entered her senior year with a remarkable 4.00 grade-point average. She was selected to the Atlantic 10 Conference All-Academic team in both her sophomore and junior seasons. She also made the A-10 Commissioner’s Honor Roll and the Saint Louis University Dean’s List in each of her first six semesters. Logan-Wood carries a double major of social work and international studies and is minoring in Italian studies.

Character

Logan-Wood has experienced more adversity than most people face in a lifetime. She lost both parents before turning nine and was cared for by her maternal grandparents, who have since passed away. Despite these hardships, Logan-Wood excels in every facet of life. Most Division-I student-athletes find balancing academic and athletic schedules challenging, but not her. She maintains a 4.0 GPA with a double major and is the undisputed team leader on and off the field.

Logan-Wood is fiercely competitive yet is SLU’s most selfless teammate. As a sophomore, she became a starter after being a reserve most of her freshman year. Three games into conference play, Logan-Wood told Coach Katie Shields that she believed the team played better when she did not start. She added that all she cared about was team success; she preferred to come off the bench if it meant the team would succeed. Only an extraordinary young woman would assess herself so honestly and disregard her own desires for the good of the group. Logan-Wood did this without acknowledgement or fanfare.

Although the list of Logan-Wood’s service involvement, academic achievements and competitive accolades is endless, knowing her is an entirely different honor. She makes everyone around her better. She is a fierce competitor and loyal teammate. Her intellect is second to none; she is exceptionally well-read, intellectually curious and socially conscious. She has the rare ability to be of the group, yet above the group as a leader. Livi Logan-Wood is truly an outstanding individual.

Community

Logan-Wood has engaged in community service in a number of ways throughout her time at Saint Louis University. She has been a “Big” for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Eastern Missouri for the past 2.5 years, spending more than 200 hours mentoring the same little girl. Logan-Wood has been a member of Global Brigades, a student-led campus organization that implements programs in Third World countries, since her sophomore year. She served on the Water Brigades executive board during her junior year, traveling to rural Honduras twice (combined time of 12 days) to help install a sustainable water system in two different villages. Logan-Wood has also focused on philanthropic efforts, helping SLU women’s soccer raise almost $4,200 for the American Cancer Society at the last three Kicks Against Breast Cancer games by sharing her personal experience regarding her mother’s battle with breast cancer. Furthermore, Logan-Wood organized more than 100 hours of community service for her teammates in spring 2015, helping the women’s soccer team lead the SLU athletic department with more than 350 total hours. She also coordinated volunteer efforts at St. Patrick’s Center, the French School, Relay for Life and the Ronald McDonald House.

Competition

Logan-Wood collected nine goals – including three game-winning goals – and three assists during her first three seasons. She led the team in goals (five) and points (11) in her sophomore year; four of her goals came in Atlantic 10 Conference play, good for sixth place in the league rankings. That performance helped lead the Billikens to a second-place tie in the A-10 standings and the team’s first appearance in the A-10 postseason tournament in four years.
