Character

Lorraine is the first player to practice and team meetings, while being the last player to leave the field. She is a soccer “gym rat.” She speaks quietly but everyone listens when she speaks because she has tremendous character. She is so well-respected for her knowledge of the game and her committment to the game.

Community

She has been a math tutor at Spaulding Elementary School in Durham as they work one-on-one with third grade students that lack proficiency in match skills. She has also done tutoring at the Eno Valley Elementary School and North Side Church. She volunteered at John Umpstead Hospital in the drug and alcohol rehabilitation, was a volunteer at the Durham Soup Kitchen and a volunteer at the Trosa Christmas tree sales. Lorraine is a real star at team youth clinics because of her technical ability as she does tricks with the ball that wow the kids.

Competition

One of the top midfielders in the nation. A 2008 Hermann Award candidate and preseason second team All-America by Soccer America. Member of 2008 U.S. U-23 Nordic Cup squad, which claimed the championship with a 3-0 win over Germany. As a junior, was named to the Soccer Buzz All-America fourth team, Soccer Buzz All-Southeast Region first team and Soccer America MVP second team. She also received NSCAA/adidas All-Southeast Region second team and first team All-ACC accolades. Selected to the Duke Classic All-Tournament team in addition to the WCC/ACC Challenge All-Tournament team. Was a team captain in 2007 and owns a quiet leadership style as she leads by example. Players follow Lorraine’s desire and work-rate on the field. She is mentally tough player who always looks to the biggest games to have major impact. Over her career, Quinn has notched eight goals, 12 assists and 28 points in 68 career games.
