Lydia Dimke earned a spot on Creighton’s Dean’s List in the fall of 2016, when she was also leading Creighton to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament. She also landed a spot on the BIG EAST All-Academic Team in 2016-17. She was named Academic All-Big Ten in 2015-16 as a student-athlete at Purdue. She intends to pursue a graduate degree in the future.

Character

Dimke transferred to Creighton in the spring of 2016 and made an immediate impact, being voted a team captain just months later. She is a team leader both on and off the court and very popular in the community.

Community

Dimke has performed more than 25 hours of community service since arriving at Creighton. She’s been active with Welcome Week, held a clinic for children, visits local schools to read, spoken and helped at the Mustang March at Mary Our Queen, and has helped feed the homeless.

Competition

Dimke was named BIG EAST Player of the Year and a third-team All-American in 2016, her first season with the Bluejays. She ranked second nationally in assists while helping Creighton to the program’s first Elite Eight. She was later named Creighton’s Female Athlete of the Year in 2016-17. In 2016 she was named to three All-Tournament Teams, including the BIG EAST Tournament and she was also named first-team All-East Region as Creighton tied a program record with 29 victories. Dimke began her senior year in fine fashion, helping Creighton defeat then-No. 3 Washington as the Jays claimed the Husky Invitational title, where she was named to the All-Tournament Team.
