Character

Served as a team captain for the 2013 America East champions and will captain the squad for a second year in 2014… Named team’s Mike Woodard Unsung Hero for the 2013 campaign… Originally from Bamoko, Mali and emigrated to the US at age 10.

Community

Very active with his teammates in various UMBC Athletics’ Community Service programs, including hosting a clinic for the Casey Cares Foundation… Also active in “Kicks for Chase” program which raised $3,000 for the Arc Northern Chesapeake Region in honor of Chase Bugarin at their game vs. Maryland.

Competition

Selected to America East Conference First Team in 2013… Has six career goals and 16 assists, including four goals and 13 assists in two seasons at UMBC… Started all 20 games for UMBC in 2013… Finished second on the team and third in America East Conference in assists per game (7, 0.30)… His perfect serve was headed in by Kadeem Dacres with 12 seconds left in regulation as UMBC nipped host Vermont, 2-1, on Oct. 16… Tallied the game-winning goal in the 50’ in the 1-0 victory over UNH three days hence… Produced multiple-point games in America East title game and NCAA Tournament contest.. Contributed a goal and a helper versus Hartford to help UMBC to a league championship and assisted on both UMBC scores in frigid conditions against the UConn Huskies…  Started the final 15 games of his first season in the black and gold in 2012… Produced three multiple-point efforts… Recorded two assists vs. Boston University on Oct. 13 and vs. Hartford on Oct. 24… Recorded an assist on the GWG and scored his first UMBC goal in the 53’ in the regular season finale, a 3-0 win over Binghamton… Played all 110 minutes in post-season games vs. UNH, Old Dominion and North Carolina… Participated in penalty kick shootouts in all three contest and converted on all three occasions.
