Ybarra is a business administration major in the Ross School of Business. He is a three-time Academic All-Big Ten selection.

He is a member of the LEAD Scholars program, established for those who embody leadership, excellence, achievement, and diversity.

Character

Ybarra is a three-time team captain for Michigan. He has led the team to an unprecedented run of success in that role, as Michigan has compiled a record of 25-10-11 as of February 24, 2021.

During Ybarra’s time with the team, Michigan has made three consecutive NCAA tournament appearances.

Community

Being a native of Ann Arbor, Ybarra is very attached to his community. During the summer of 2019, he volunteered with the GM Student Corps in Flint, Michigan, where he assisted with projects to clean up public parks and school locker rooms.

He was a regular participant in activities with Aidan Hansen, Michigan’s Team IMPACT teammate. Ybarra accompanied him on field trips and swimming lessons.

Before COVID-19, Ybarra was also a participant within the department’s weekly visits to C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital and volunteered for the Athletic Department’s Holiday Giving Drive in December of 2020.

Competition

Ybarra has been a mainstay for the Michigan Wolverines since arriving in 2017. He has started 63 of 64 games in the midfield, tallying 27 points on five goals and 17 assists. His assist mark ranks sixth in program history.

In 2019, he was named to the All-Big Ten second team and United Soccer Coaches All-North Region third team.

Ybarra was selected to the All-Big Ten Freshman Team in 2017, when Michigan won its first-ever Big Ten Championship.
